Beclometasone diproprionate (Clipper) is an additional option after an oral aminosalicylate in mild to moderate left sided or extensive ulcerative colitis (as per NICE CG for ulcerative colitis). It may be considered for patients in whom the use of prednisolone would best be avoided. GPs need to be aware of the 4 week course and the dosing of 5mg daily for Beclometasone diproprionate and may wish to consider seeking advice from the IBD team when prescribing this steroid.

for patients with significant swallowing difficulties unable to take ANY medicine in a solid dose formulation. The strict administration requirements for Binosto are the same as for the standard alendronate. Binosto is considerably more expensive than the preferred standard alendronate formulation.

For use only in adult patients with moderate to severe persistent facial erythema associated with rosacea. All children who attend school should be prescribed BD Autoshield needles to minimise the risk of needle stick injuries. These needles should be added to repeat prescriptions in ADDITION to universal needles, as the Autoshield is required only for school use, not home use.
